Slowing Down

For those of you who haven't heard yet, my training has taken a back seat for a few weeks.  I went to the doctor a week ago and found out that I have a stomach ulcer, inflamed esophagus and some gallbladder problems.  Although I am sick, I am not using this as an excuse to back down on this great project.  Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far in my journey.  All this just means that I will have to work that much harder after any surgeries are all said and done.  These women that I am walking for have been through much harder and more difficult days than what I am.  With that said I am not backing down.  I will still be doing as much fundraising as I possibly can from my home while I am working on getting back to 100%.

Meeting Time

So today I went to a meeting for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk for the cure.  This was probably one of the most moving things I have ever been to in my life.  It really put everything into perspective for me.  This isn't one of the easiest things to do.  This event is BIG.  Never in my life have I ever gotten the opportunity to do something that is THIS BIG!!!!  I get to camp out for an entire weekend with women who have survived this horrible disease.  I get to see just how strong these women are for three whole days.  But this meeting also helped me to realize that I cannot do this alone.  I need the help of each and every one of you.  There is really no donation too small. If all you can give me is $1, then it's $1 closer to finding a cure to breast cancer.  Someday there will be a sure and our sisters, mothers, daughters, grandmothers, neighbors, coworkers, etc. won't have to battle this disease anymore.  Please help and I PROMISE you'll be glad you did!!!

Training

Hello everyone!  Well, as you can see there have been quite a few donations added in the past few days.  The progress that we're making is amazing!  It's getting more and more exciting every time I get a new donation in the mail.  Yesterday I walked a little over 4 miles in less than an hour.  It was a nice change from only one or two the week before.  I'm not only working on how far I can walk, but I'm trying to get the rest of my body ready for it as well.  I'm not going to lie, this whole thing sounded a lot easier when I was hearing about it on the radio's and t.v., but now that I'm seeing how much hard work actually goes into something like this, it changes my view completely.  It's showing me just how right this whole thing is.  It shows that we are doing the right thing by doing little things to help women across the world battle this disease.  Thank you all so much for supporting me.  Only a little under $2,000 is needed for this great cause, PLEASE don't stop helping now.  Anyone who I haven't sent a letter in the mail to or an email and you would like to donate, please let me know and I can send you my home address.  Again, thank you all, I cannot possibly tell you how much this all means to me.

One Step at a Time

It's been a long hard week of training.  I'm not going to lie, my legs have felt like jello on more than one occasion.  It's getting more and more fun as I get ready though!  I can't wait until July!!!!  Its amazing to me how many people will be affected by the money being raised for this organization.  Thank you for the continuous donations.  I couldn't do any of this without all of you.  I'm going to continue to work hard on this project everyday.  The more training that I do, the easier it will become.  So far I've been walking about 4-5 miles everyday.  Every other day I'm walking outside (with miss Bristol) with ankle weights on.  On the days that I don't walk outside, I'm walking with my mom on a treadmill with hand weights.  It's time consuming, but to think that just by participating in this walk I'm making a difference, it seems more simple.  Can't wait to start walking 5-6 miles next week :)  !!!!

Snowy Walk

My furry little companion (Bristol of course) went on a nice long training walk with me tonight.  Let's just say ankle weights, Bristol and snow on the ground make for a rough winter walk.  My legs are getting stronger though and I'm well on my way to getting ready for my 60 mile walk.  Thank goodness I have the puppy to keep me going though!  Thank you for the donations this week!  I couldn't do this without you!

Training Day 1

Today's the first day of traning!!!  I guess I have to bundle up really good though seeing as how its only nine degrees outside.  The Ipod and puppy are ready to go!  As unappealing as it sounds to start walking in the freezing cold, I'm really excited to get going.  I still need as much help as possible with the donations.  Anything you can do would be more than helpful!  I do want to thank my mom though for helping me out as much as possible with all of this.  She will be helping me train by walking with me as soon as the weather warms up (at least a few degrees haha).  Today puppy Bristol and I are starting with our usual 4 mile walk.  Wish me luck :)!

Just Getting Started

Hey Everyone!

Incase you haven't heard yet, I'm joining hundreds of women in Cleveland July 29th-31st for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk for the cure.  During these three days we will each walk 20 miles for a total of 60 miles at the end of the weekend.  This walk is to raise money for the continuing research of a cure for breast cancer.  Each participant must raise a minimum of $2,300.  However, I can't do this alone.  I need the support of each and every one of you.  Any donations possible would be greatly appreciated.  I will begin training for this walk at the start of next week.  Please help me on this amazing and exciting walk by donating and telling others about what I am trying to do.  No donation is too little!  "alone we accomplish little, but together we accomplish much!" -Helen Keller
I will continue to post on here the amount of money that I have raised as well as how my training is going.  I will keep this updated almost every other day so feel free to leave questions, comments or pictures as you feel fit.  Thank  you for all of your love and support!!!
